Course Expectations
In my classroom, I expect students to:
- Participate actively during class and always give their best effort.
- Follow directions the first time they are given.
- Raise their hand to speak.
- Enter and leave quietly, and be seated when the bell rings.
- Respect one another and the property of others. This includes listening to others when they are speaking and using respectful
language at all times.
I expect students to follow my classroom rules as well as the rules outlined in the student handbook.
It is also expected that students complete their assignments and seek help when they are struggling. I am available before and after school most days, but students should make an appointment in advance to come in and work with me. This might be a particularly good idea when a quiz or test is approaching.

Grading
This is a weighted
course. Students' nine weeks grade will be calculated using the following
breakdown:
80% Formal assessments
20% Daily assignments (i.e. investigations, homework, notebook checks, warm-ups, classwork and participation)
Both of the nine weeks grades and a final exam will be used in determining the final semester grade. The final exam is
worth 20% of the semester grade.
Late Work Policy:
Students may turn in an assignment a day late for 1/2 credit. If an assignment is 2 or more days late, I strongly
suggest a student completes the assignment but it cannot be turned in for credit.
Correction Policy:
Every quarter, you will be allowed to retake one quiz and make half-point corrections on one unit test of your choosing.
Quiz Retakes- Retakes must be done before school, during lunch, or during QRP. You will schedule the day and time
when you wish to retake the quiz in my classroom. The retake must occur within three days of receiving the quiz
back. You will have 30-40 minutes to complete the retake for full credit. If you do not show up at your scheduled
time, you forfeit your quiz retake for the quarter.
Unit Test Corrections- Corrections are done on a separate sheet of paper and attached to the unit test. Corrections
can be turned in at any point during the quarter. You can earn back half of the points you lost if the problem is done
correctly. You are allowed to use notes, worksheets, Ms. Holleran, tutors, etc. to help with your corrections.
However, copying another student’s work from their test is still considered cheating.
Power School:
Bay High uses Power School as its online gradebook. The gradebook is up-to-date every three weeks. Parents can
elect to have the gradebook notify them when a student misses an assignment or drops below a certain grade.
