About Me
This is my fifth year teaching mathematics and second year at BHS. Math has always proved to be an exciting yet challenging subject area for me. I received my degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from Ohio University. After teaching 8th grade Pre-Algebra and 9th grade Algebra for Midview Local Schools, I returned to school to pursue a graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Purdue University. While completing my graduate coursework, I taught math classes for Purdue's Mathematics Department. I am a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
I had an opportunity to work with the Core-Plus Mathematics curriculum during my student teaching experience at Bay High, and have read many of the research reports on Core-Plus and its impact on student learning. Similar to the philosophy driving the Core-Plus curriculum, I firmly believe that students need to be active in their own learning. I am willing to meet with students before or after school if they want extra help. Use my contact information above or stop by my room to schedule an appointment.
